Who are our Trustees?
These are the people that run maNGOma.
Kieran Mcelhinney (Chair) – Kieran holds a BA (Hons) in International Relations and Politics and an MA in International Development from the University of East Anglia. Having lived and worked in Malawi before starting his postgraduate studies, his areas of interest are in education in development and community led development.
Chris Hull – Chris is an independent social worker with 33 years’ experience in the field of adoption. Chris has also been a County Councillor. Chris is a Core Group Member for Norwich Farmshare (a community supported agricultural scheme) and a qualified cycle instructor, working in schools delivering ‘Bikeability training’, and leading adult cycling groups.
John Cockburn – A retired freelance psychologist, trainer and consultant working with groups, individuals, and organisations that want to develop their potential and maximise their effectiveness. Dr Cockburn has spent over 30 years in the fields of psychology and personal and professional development. He has specialised in teacher education, group functioning, communication processes and psychotherapeutic approaches to improving organisational performances by developing teams, conflict resolution, assertiveness training and managing stress. John has specialised in personality theory and is a licensed user of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Cattell 16PF.
James Packham – Currently working as a Senior Consultant with a business software company, James began his career as an Agricultural Economist with ODA (now DFiD) and worked on projects in Africa and the Caribbean. James subsequently spent several years as Marketing Manager for an engineering company in Norwich. He holds a Development Studies degree from UEA and an MSc in Agricultural Economics.
Julia La Ronde – Julia has worked for a number of organisations supporting entrepreneurs and has worked extensively to promote entrepreneurship in schools, through projects such as Women’s Employment and Enterprise Training Unit (WEETU) and Women in Rural Enterprise (WiRE). She is the founder of Norfolk & Norwich International Women’s Network and an entrepreneur; having launched her Sisserou Rum and coconut Cream Liqueur brand in the UK. Julia originates from the Caribbean, holds an Accountancy degree from the USA and an MBA from UEA.
Silvia Harvey – Silvia works at the Students’ Union at the University of East Anglia, after studying her MA in International Development from UEA with a focus on education. She also holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of York. Silvia has experience in India and Uganda, in educational development projects, and in a development charity in Italy focused on gender issues and peace education.
Sophie Willis – Sophie currently works as a teaching assistant in a primary school, after having completed an MA in Education and Development at the UEA last year. She also holds a BA (Hons) in Education and English from Durham University. Sophie has volunteered at an orphanage in Cambodia and taught English at a rural school in Northern India.
Fundraising and Development
Steve Wiseman – Prior to becoming a fundraising and business consultant, Steve held the position of Chief Officer at the Norwich and West Norfolk Citizens Advice Bureau, and has also worked as a college lecturer, civil servant and writer. In the latter role he has authored eight titles on consumer rights and education. He is a National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) Approved Consultant. Steve’s qualifications include an MA in Education & Professional Development, and the Diploma in Fundraising Management (Institute of Fundraising).
Louise Richmond – Louise’s career has featured local, national and international charity management and fundraising roles. Louise has also worked with the United Nations in Social Development (UNRISD) and as a university lecturer. She has lived and worked in Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong, Switzerland, US and Spain as well as the UK. Her qualifications include BA Hons. in Development Studies, MA in Gender Analysis in Development and Professional Certificate in Management.
