We also run projects here in the UK. We collaborate with other change-making community groups, support local migrants and refugees, and campaign for international aid.
Doughnut Economics and Community Collaboration
Doughnut Economics, developed by Kate Raworth rethinks progress by ensuring everyone’s needs are met within the planet’s limits. It envisions a safe and just space for humanity, balancing social justice with ecological sustainability.
At maNGOma, we embed this framework in our partnerships across the UK and Global South, linking environmental action with equity.
Today, in Norwich, our UK focus is shaped by collaborations with Norwich Eco Hub and Reimagine Norwich, advancing the Doughnut Economics framework bringing Doughnut thinking into community projects, campaigns, and awareness-raising — enabling people to imagine fairer futures and act on them today..
Globally, we connect grassroots NGOs through the Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL) and its World Map of Communities.
Join us to co-create a resilient, inclusive future within the Doughnut — through community energy, climate action, and development.
Campaign on International Aid
maNGOma is represented on Norfolk Global Neighbours and the Aid Alliance, bringing people and organisations together to defend the 0.7% aid spending commitment. We also campaign to challenge negative perceptions of aid and to highlight solidarity and shared responsibility in addressing global challenges.
University of East Anglia
We work closely with the University of East Anglia, notably the UEA School of Global Development, and are indebted to the many students and alumni who volunteer with us. Their skills, energy, and fresh perspectives play a vital role in furthering maNGOma’s mission of linking global justice with local action and sustainable development.
Refugee Project
In Norwich, a City of Refuge, and a City of Sanctuary, we have previously supported refugees, migrant workers and minority ethnic groups to improve integration, skills and job prospects. A National Lottery funded project created volunteering links and events, and demonstrated our ability to respond to local needs with inclusive action.
