Our work prioritises women, young people, children and individuals experiencing poverty, vulnerability or disability, supporting them to build skills, confidence and economic independence.
Current projects
Operating in a country facing significant socio-economic challenges—including high poverty levels, limited access to essential services and underdeveloped infrastructure—ADESOPRO focuses on long-term, community-led solutions.
ADESOPRO’s approach is participatory and empowerment-focused, combining training, mentoring and community engagement. Key areas of work include socio-economic empowerment, vocational skills development, socio-professional integration, community governance and environmentally sustainable practices. The organisation also uses culture and the arts as tools for awareness-raising and social cohesion.
Since its founding, ADESOPRO has delivered a range of impactful initiatives.
Awareness-raising programmes
We have reached over 10,000 people on issues such as gender-based violence, health, hygiene and human rights.
Reforestation and environmental protection campaigns
In Madagascar daily survival depends on natural resource use. Most Malagasy people do not have the opportunity to develop careers, instead, they rely on the land around them, and the resources they can find. This poverty, combined with population growth and economic challenges, contributes to the loss of the island’s unique biodiversity, affecting both Madagascar and the world. Climate change further exacerbates these environmental pressures, leading to prolonged droughts, shifting weather patterns, and increasing vulnerability of both people and ecosystems. Adeso-pro build campaigns around these issues including the following:
- Deforestation and habitat destruction. Driven by slash-and-burn agriculture, illegal logging, and fuelwood collection.
- Agricultural fires. Uncontrolled burning for land clearing, which spreads into wildlands.
- Erosion and soil degradation. Exacerbated by deforestation and poor land management.
- Overexploitation of living resources, including hunting, overfishing, and the wildlife trade.
- Introduction of alien species. Invasive plants and animals disrupting native ecosystems.
Income generation training
In the past we have offered training in soap production and food processing.
Looking ahead, ADESOPRO’s priority initiative is the development of a semi-industrial community tailoring workshop, designed to equip women with professional skills, support sustainable livelihoods and generate income to strengthen long-term organisational sustainability.
