Stitching the Future
Mugunga seeks to improve the living conditions of all its residents. Poverty is currently one of the most pressing issues and there is a need for skill development within the community to enable people to improve their livelihoods.
The creation of a mixed-gender tailoring training center aims to pass on technical skills to women who wish to engage in tailoring — making garments such as pagnes, fabrics, and embroidery for both men and women. This will contribute to poverty reduction, self-reliance, and women’s empowerment.
This project will focus on conducting training and mentoring activities for women and girls. Our beneficiaries are victims of wars and abuse, so the project will offer psychosocial support. Group therapy sessions will be offered on weekly basis.
